Still no sign of Colton Harris-Moore

EASTSOUND, Orcas Island – Despite media reports, police here don’t believe teenage serial burglar Colton Harris-Moore tried to steal another plane on Orcas Island last week.

A national TV news Web site reported the attempted theft today, attributing the information to unnamed sources.

San Juan County Sheriff William Cumming said today the reports are false and there’s been no other related activity since Feb. 11 when police on Orcas Island recovered a stolen plane and investigated a burglary at a grocery store. Harris-Moore, 18, was named as a possible suspect.

Since then, San Juan County officials have kept close watch for the 6-foot-5 Camano Island teen.

“We’re watching things pretty closely,” Cumming said Tuesday. “Every bush that moves doesn’t mean there’s a storm out there.”
